Leaderboard

Leaderboards are a feature of Geometry Dash, Geometry Dash Lite, and Geometry Dash World, being introduced in Update 1.3.

Description[]

Scores leaderboards were introduced in Update 1.3, and are accessed through the creator menu. Level leaderboards were introduced in Update 2.0 and are accessed through the trophy button on user level menus. A player must be logged in to be eligible to rank on leaderboards.

Scores leaderboards[]

Tabs at the top of the screen display four leaderboard categories by which players of the game are ordered in a ranked list relative to other players based on their tally of specific collectibles.

  • Top 100: Shows the top 100 overall ranked players, ordered by number of stars. Players must be manually whitelisted by leaderboard moderators before they can appear on this leaderboard (a system to prevent cheaters). A player can also be banned from this leaderboard by leaderboard moderators, removing them and disabling their rank. It can be viewed here.
  • Friends: Shows the player alongside other players on their Friends List, ordered by number of stars.
  • Global: Shows the player alongside other players based on their overall ranking, ordered by number of stars (requiring at least 500 stars to receive an initial rank). A player can also be banned from this leaderboard by leaderboard moderators, removing them and disabling their rank.
  • Creators: Shows the top 100 creators, ordered by number of creator points. 1 creator point is awarded for each created level that receives a star rating, with an additional point being granted for each created level that is featured, Epic, Legendary, or Mythic (higher ratings also give the creator point bonuses of all lower ratings, meaning a single Mythic level grants five creator points).

A player's rank in the Global category results in a specific coloured trophy being displayed alongside their rank in the upper left corner of their profile page. In the case of a player being banned from the Top 100 and Global categories, it is possible for them to be unbanned upon further evaluation, restoring their rank with account of any stars obtained during the period which they were banned.

Level leaderboards[]

Buttons at the right of the popup menu display leaderboard categories by which players of the current level are ordered in a ranked list relative to other players based on their their % progress, followed by number of collected user coins, and lastly their time of completion. Platformer levels instead use two separate leaderboards selected by buttons at the left of the popup menu, the first displaying ranks based on completion time (hh:mm:ss.ms), and the second based on points (this requires configuration by the level creator to assign in-level pick-ups to contribute towards this tally). The popup menu must be manually accessed for a level leaderboard submission to be made. Selecting the refresh button will update the leaderboard.

  • Friends: Shows the player alongside other players on their Friends List who made submissions.
  • Top: Shows the top 200 overall ranked players who made submissions.
  • Weekly: Shows the top 200 overall ranked players within a 7 day period who made submissions (refreshing every Monday 00:00 CET).
  • Local: Applying only for platformer levels, shows the the player's own submissions, which includes each individual successful attempt and not just their highest ranking submission.

Trivia[]

  • All players with the same number of stars as the logged-in player will be ranked below them with the exception of one randomly selected player who will be ranked above them. This results in slightly different rankings being presented to each player.
  • The Top 100 category only shows 100 results of what is actually a Top 1000 category of whitelisted players. A player who is not whitelisted can only achieve a maximum overall rank of 1001.
  • Prior to Update 1.9, the Top 100 category was preceded by a Top 50 category.
  • Prior to Update 2.0, there was a Weekly category that was ordered based on the number of stars obtained in one week, updated weekly. It was replaced by the Friends category.
  • On 22 July 2017, the Top 100 and Global leaderboards were paused from being updated. The Top 100 leaderboard remained frozen until 21 May 2021, after an announcement was made by Viprin stating that the leaderboard would be updated hourly using a manually managed list of player account IDs. Two days later, the Global leaderboard updates were unpaused.
  • The player Mask was the first player to maintain rank #1 on the Top 100 leaderboard for an extended period of time, with 80 stars, and for a period simultaneously maintained rank #1 on the Creators leaderboard.
  • The player Michigun was the next player to maintain rank #1 on the Top 100 leaderboard for an extended period of time, doing so over the course of many updates to the game. Player Shaggy23 was the first to surpass them on 21 April 2017 to claim rank #1, resulting in the first change of top ranking after several years, occurring during Update 2.1.
  • Player NoctaFly was the first player to reach the star limit of 65,535 (this later being raised to 16,777,215).
  • Player Smiffy777 currently has the most stars of all players and ranks #1 on the Top 100 leaderboard.
  • The level leaderboards of specific levels (i.e. some with an Extreme Demon difficulty) use player whitelists where they were evaluated by moderators to be potential targets of cheaters.
