UserProfile

User Accounts are a feature present in all Geometry Dash games with limited functionality in Geometry Dash Lite, Geometry Dash Meltdown, and Geometry Dash SubZero. User accounts were officially introduced in Update 1.9, giving the player the ability to save and transfer data between devices. The account system would be improved later in Update 2.0.

Description[]

All players are assigned individual profile pages upon creating a user account. A profile page showcases a player's current icons, displaying their current cube, ship, ball, UFO, wave, robot, spider, and swing with their respective colours. In addition, profile pages also showcase a player's global Leaderboards rank and respective alongside some collectibles, including:

  • Stars
  • Moons
  • Secret Coins
  • User Coins
  • Demon levels count
  • Creator points (if any)

On the profile page, players can send and receive private messages from one user to another, send and respond to friend requests, and block other users from viewing their profile or sending friend requests. Players can leave personal messages for others to read and like or dislike. Players can also view all comments made by a specific user, sorted by either recency or amount of likes. When viewing a different player's profile page there are options to follow, view the player's created levels, or view their created lists.

In the profile page settings, accessible by tapping on the gear icon, there are options allowing the player to choose who is able to send messages (anyone, friends or none) and friend requests (all or none) to them. The player can also toggle whether or not other players can view their comment history. YouTube, Twitter, and Twitch accounts can be linked to a profile page.

There is an approximate one day delay before players can view the statistics of a newly created user account.

Disabled accounts[]

In some cases, Robert Topala may choose to disable certain accounts, which permanently disables the ability to log into the accounts on the same IP address. Instead of successfully logging into the account when entering the correct password, it will display a message telling the user to contact RobTop Support for more information. The message has not changed since its initial inclusion.

Account settings[]

Account settings can be accessed from the main menu. Locate the settings menu and select the "Accounts" button. A player that is logged in can then save and load data from the cloud; the "More" button allows the player to refresh their login, change their username and password (from the "Manage account" button), or unlink (log out and delete all save data) their account.

Saving data[]

Once a player is logged into their account, they can select the "Save" button in order to back up their data to the cloud (with a minimum of 10 stars required). Because save data is stored in the cloud rather than the device, it can be accessed at any time even if the user previously unlinked their account from the device.

Save data includes collectibles, created levels, and the user's unlocked icons, but does not include the specific icon set or colours chosen. Save data also does not include downloaded songs, meaning the user must redownload songs when restoring data.

Transferring data[]

When save data is backed up to the cloud, it can be accessed from any device. In order to transfer data to a different device, a player must log in to their account on the new device. From the account settings the player can then select "Load" to restore their save data to the new device, which should load the player's unlocked icons, other collectibles, and created levels.

Saving data from a different device than the original save data will merge the two backups together in the cloud.

Trivia[]

  • On a user's profile page, icons can only be updated if the user refreshes their profile page.
  • As of July 12, 2019, due to a PHP upgrade, profile pages are not displayed correctly if an outdated version of Geometry Dash is used (such as 2.0).
  • In Update 1.9, saving data to the cloud would overwrite the current save. This was changed in Update 2.0 so that the new and old saves are merged together.
  • In Update 2.0, there was a feature inside of the icon kit that allowed a user to view their user ID, a number which was associated with a specific account that could be searched up. Searching by an account's user ID still works, however it is harder to find the account's user ID as the message in the icon kit was removed in Update 2.1.
  • A player requires a registered account to comment on user levels as of Update 2.11. Previously, registered and unregistered players alike were able to comment on user levels. This was done to prevent spam.
  • There is a bug that happens if a player sends a friend request to another player and then restarts the game. The friend request is sent but the button changes back to before the request was sent.
  • As indicated by a tweet from Viprin on September 10, username changes to simpler, abbreviated variants are generally considered for known personalities, but can be accommodated for lesser-known individuals.
  • In the Geometry Dash 10-Year Anniversary video, it is stated there are 17,107,125 user accounts.
  • Previously, you could use a unregistered account to do pretty much everything.
  • Prior to 2.201, diamonds were shown, but were since removed due to the fact it was useless to view diamonds as it is not viewed as a skill point.
    • It is still possible to view diamonds by clicking the info button next to a player's username.
